This is a pretty curious collection. Most of the tunes are truly Bavarian, but quite a few are old Russian and Gypsy romances. The instrumentation is marvellous - piano, violin, clarinet, trumpet, zither, harp, and double bass. "Smuglianka" sounds incredibly fresh. I wouldn't recommend this CD for Oktober Fest drinking parties. As for "chorus" part of the title - well, it's all instrumental! Again, why are recording companies so unpredictable when it comes to German folk music collections...
