Before the Supremes, the Ronettes, or any other "girl group," the Andrews Sisters were THE American female vocal group. From the late 1930s through the early 1950s, the Sisters racked up hit after hit with their cheerful, dazzling close harmonies and brisk, relentlessly upbeat delivery. BEST OF ANTHOLOGY is a good bet for novices; one disc is a cross-section of their hits; the other is a DVD of the World War II-era movie PRIVATE BUCKAROO, providing some historical context for the Andrews Sisters' songs.
