The Dynamic Genome: A Darwinian Approach
These novelties, among others, are examined in this book in relation to their general significance for evolution, emphasising their human relevance. The predominance of non-coding DNA in the human genome, the long-term adaptive role of so called "junk DNA" in the evolution of new functions, and the key evolutionary differences that define our humanity are just some of the controversial issues that this book examines in the context of Darwinian evolution. The authors principle intention is to show that whilst genomics is revealing new and previously unanticipated mechanisms and sources of variability that must be incorporated into evolutionary theory, there is no reason to dismiss the role of natural selection as the mechanism that sorts out these potentialities. In other words, this genome potential provides new possibilities (and also constraints) for evolution, but the realization of this potential is driven by natural selection.

Jay Leno - Leading with My Chin
This is a book of jokey anecdotes and humorous stories marking the comedians progress to the top. The persona of the young Leno is not so different and just as likable as the one appearing nightly on television. Whether it is his mothers advice, his teachers complaints, or the awkward situations he finds himself in (for example, standing before an Orthodox Jewish audience who have been mistakenly led to expect a Yiddish storyteller) Leno always sees the funny side.

The Lizards Bite (Nic Costa)
Now exiled to Venice, Costa and Peroni find themselves with another hot-potato case on their hands. After being reunited with Falcone, the pair is offered a chance to return to Rome if they will rubber stamp a murder investigation on the island of Murano, where a glassmaker apparently has killed his wife and then died himself when the furnace he was tending exploded. Naturally, Costa and Peroni smell a fix and cant resist following the scent. The setup here stretches credulity a bit--Why ask three notorious rule breakers to go through the motions?--but Hewson takes the story well beyond its genre-bound premise, mixing Venetian ambience ("the lethargic melancholy of the lagoon") and the lore of glassmaking with a multifaceted examination of his characters (especially Falcones) dark sides. A richly ambiguous finale only adds to the pleasure.
Jeff Lindsay - 06 - Double Dexter (Audiobook)
Like the previous five best-selling novels in the Dexter series, Double Dexter showcases the witty, macabre originality that has propelled Jeff Lindsay to international success. Double Dexter is raucously entertaining . . . full of smart suspense and dark laughs.
