The toehold is a powerful method of attacking a man's leg at the ankle and knee joints. When done properly, this move can cause instant damage to both (although it primarily attacks the knee), rendering a person unable to walk or even stand. There are actually two things that make the toehold such a good fighting move; first it attacks a crucial area and can damage it if your opponent doesn't surrender, second, this lock can be applied from a wide variety of positions makeing it a highly versatile maneuver.

The HEEL HOOK is a highly effective method of attacking (and severely damaging) an opponent's knee and ankle.
