What is masking and how can it help me?
Masking is the use of other sounds to "drown out" or "mask" the annoying noises associated with tinnitus. Tinnitus Masker Pro goes a step further than standard masking products , allowing you to experiment with an infinite number of combinations of sounds and frequencies until you find the best masking effect for your symptoms. You can then play the combination of sounds back in realtime, or record the sound output to wav or mp3.
How does masking work?
Masking is generally successful because the masking sound and the tinnitus sound are vastly different in quality. Tinnitus usually produces a shrill, high-pitched, unpleasant tone. In contrast, masking sounds are typically soothing. Most individuals can and usually do "automatically" ignore certain external sounds. These sounds are ignored if they are not too loud or harsh and if they are relatively constant and monotonous. Ignoring the masking sound, which covers up the tinnitus, means that the tinnitus is automatically ignored as well.

This session was an improvised country blues get-together between "Lightnin'" Hopkins and his brothers Joel and John Henry, featuring a number of solo and duo performances.
A once-in-a-lifetime meeting of the three Hopkins brothers in Waxahatchie, TX in 1964 produced this marvelous brace of field recordings. The oldest brother was considered the best songster in the family, and certainly his performances here are throwbacks to a more archaic style, although he's an amazingly energetic performer. Middle brother Joel is the crudest of the three, surprising since he's the one of the three who spent the most time around mentor Blind Lemon Jefferson. These are loose, conversational recordings made with a single microphone. They capture three brothers enjoying each other's company immensely. ~ Cub Koda

Overview
ContrastMaster offers three local and four global contrast adjustment methods as well as various masking, saturation and brightness options. The three local adjustment methods allow you to dramatically improve contrast in small image details without blowing out highlights or damaging the image. You can apply these three methods separately or use various options to mix them together for even better results.
The four global methods (S/H-Contrast, Stretch, Equalize and Polarize) work on the tonal range of the image and help to improve the result even further. There is also an option for changing the brightness of the image. The masking options let you conveniently remove the ContrastMaster effect from an image area where you do not want to have it applied, e.g. skin areas, a blue sky or a wall. This can be done with the help of shadow/highlight and color masking options. Additionally, a saturation mask feature lets you improve saturation without oversaturating the image
