Without this step will not work properly with the program associated to a CPU ID (eg iTunes).

FOR THOSE WHO SETS OUT UNDER ANOTHER LEOPARD! When you mount the image, you will have an orange box and it is empty. You need to make hidden files visible (you can use a utility (http://gotoes.org/sales/ShowHiddenFilesMacOSX/ShowAllFiles.app.zip)), to see the content. Then go to System / Installation / Packages and run OSInstall.mpkg and follow the instructions in the installer.

iATKOS V7 10.5.7 DVD for Intel/AMD with Guide To Install

Part 1: DOWNLOADING.
Iatkos always have a md5 file included so you can check the integrity of the file downloaded, please, always check the md5 before mount the iso or record it, incorrect md5 will lead to corrupt installations.

iATKOS V7 10.5.7 DVD for Intel/AMD with Guide To Install
Part 2: SYSTEM SETTINGS/HARDWARE
There is really a lot of different hardware components and brands on the market, this makes so difficult to know if a part (or a combination of them) will be nice for Leopard install... there is a wiki where you can check if you have a compatible/incompatible part here:
http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.2
It.s for 10.5.2, but if your part is listed there, you have a lot of chances of succeed.
Some estatements before begin:
KERNEL : The main cpu core controller, it interacts with hardware, drivers and user space (in fact it do a lot more, but this is the Mickie thread, so we will not go deeper). XD
VANILLA : this means, "apple compatible", normally we talk about cpu, core2duo are known to be compatible (can use vanilla drivers and kernels), but for example, some nvidia motherboards are known to be vanilla incompatible even using Core2duo...
If you don?t own a core2duo,Core2quad or Xeon, you can?t use vanilla kernels, you must select patched ones, for example, the very famous TOH kernels (Team Of Hackintosh) or the Voodoo kernels.
KEXT : well, this is the mac equivalent to a driver and normally are located under system/library/extensions. Everytime you copy/install a new kext under that folder, permissions must be repaired or it will not load in order to work. You can use kext helper or osx86 tools to install them safely.
kexthelper:
http://www.cheetha.net/Kext_Helper/Software.html
osx86 tools:
http://pcwizcomputer.com/osx86tools/
If you already use windows, use the computer management panel to create a new partition for Leopard, be sure it?s PRIMARY partition, you can format it as NTFS, later you will reformat to mac filesystem...
GPT OR GUID : The partition scheme for mac, is newer and powerful, it is more efficient than the old MBR partition scheme for PC's.
If you want to Dual boot with XP, you can use MBR scheme or GUID scheme, but install order is different for both types of partition schemes.
If you use MBR, create one partition for windows, one for storage and one for Leopard.
Dont try to create 5 partitions and install Leopard on the fifth, it will not boot.....this is the limit for Leopard sucessful install.
If you use GUID, you must use disk utilities under install dvd or another working Leopard system, Create the first for Leopard, one for storage and one more for windows, use this order and windows will boot. Later, when we arrive to disk utility, i will explain how to format these partitions.
BIOS SETUP
On the cpu and power options (not all bios have this options):
Disable bit: ENABLED
XD: ENABLED
CPUMAXLIMIT: DISABLED
virtualization: DISABLED or ENABLED, try it.
Hyperthreading: DISABLED or ENABLED (Just I7 processors can try enabled.)
On the power options:
HPET: ENABLED (if avaliable).
ACPI 2.0: ENABLED
If you have Sata disk, always try first setting the controller on bios as ENHANCED or AHCI, if it doesnt work, try LEGACY or NATIVE.
Always check your Sata disks are set on the first or second SATA connector on motherboard.
If you have IDE disks, place the dvd reader and the hard disk on the same cable, set the dvd jumper as MASTER and the Hard disk jumper as SLAVE.
Well... lets go to boot the DVD...
- Set CD/DVD device as first device from your bios boot order or press F12(for most motherboards) at start to see boot order list.
Boot with the dvd, when you see the boot prompt of iatkos, press F8, then write this:
This is call a "boot flag" , in this stage of the boot, you can give orders to the DVD or the SYSTEM to do things for you before the system starts, for example, -v (or verbose mode), let you see what is happening on boot on text mode, so if you have any trouble, you can report it more easier.
There are alot of boot flags, but one of them is very useful if you have this problem:
" I try to boot the DVD, but it always restart my machine"
This probably means the kernel used by the dvd as default is not compatible with your CPU, you can especify different kernels located into the dvd and try them to boot the dvd (if one of them works for you, remember the name of the kernel and select it later on install options, so it will get installed for you.
The DVD start default with the kernel Voodoo 9.5 (if you have an I7 processor and want to use this kernel you have to use the bootflag busratio=20)
Boot flags for kernel load:
mach_970 -v ( Newer Voodoo based kernel, better for all I7 cpus and older Intel/AMD hardware).
toh -v (Ancient 9.2 kernel from the Team Of Hackintosh)
ToH 9.2.0 kernel works nice on many types of hardware
If you have troubles booting even using the kernels, then add this flag on boot:
cpus=1 and select DSDT patch on DVD (if you have a Quadcore, the DSDT parcher will not fully repair your DSDT, after install boot again with cpus=1 and post on forum the DSDT.aml file you will have in your root, that file will be hidden).
or
-legacy
or combine both.
Well, lets suppose your dvd boot as normally it does. :)
If appears a stop simbol and the dvd keeps "quiet" means it haven?t recognized your hard disk/dvd motherboard?s chipset, go to your bios and play with the SATA options. Try again
If even playing, you can?t avoid the stop sign, try other other Osxinstall DVD?s.
Part 3 :THE DVD BOOTS!!!!
Well, this is supposed the normal thing.
You will see the welcome screen, click next.
Now look on the upper part of the screen , there is a menu, go to utilities, select "disk utilities"
Now the disk utilities will open.... if you have any important information on your disk, please, save it before try any thing from now on... you are adviced, take care as this utility can erase ALL the contents of your disk.
If you have already created a partition for your Leopard and you have windows installed, you are using MBR partition scheme, just selet your Leopard partition, go to erase tab, select Mac os journaled as format filesystem and press apply. Close the window when finished and jump over the next install window.
If your disk is empty, then is a good moment to do the things in a nice way.
Go to the partition tab, select how many partitions you want, put a name without spaces and select Mac os journaled as filesystem.
Look for the options button, click it and then select GUID partition scheme.
I suggest you the first partition for Leopard (Mac os journaled), Second for storage (MSDOS Fat) and a windows partition (MSDOS fat).
Once you are done, click on apply, when finish, close the window and jump to the next window.
Now select the disk you have format for MAC, click continue, you will see the Readme, read a little and click continue, now you will arrive to a window where is the CUSTOMIZE button, click it to get the install options.
In the utilities menu you will find also the bootloaders install, so you can install them onto a Raid system or a USB disk where you restored the install DVD.
Please read the "Read me" on forum to expand this information about bootloader install on Raid systems.
Part 4: INSTALL OPTIONS
Well, here is where you have some options you will have always to select and some others you will have to try till you get the success...
Customize install options:
Iatkos main system: Vanilla Apple main system.
Bootloader Or Chameleon)
Come here to get more information about them.
Chameleon 2:
http://chameleon.osx86.hu/file_download/22/Chameleon-2.0-r431.pkg.zip
Extra folder: (placed on your root system partition)
It will be installed when selecting only Chameleon 2 and it is a place where some drivers will install to keep them safe from updates.
DSDT:
Only select it if you have to use the cpus=1 flag to boot the DVD or the installed system.
Decrypters:
is a MUST for osx86 to work, select one of them.
SMBIOS : This driver is used to communicate your bios with the system and inform it about your cpu brand, speed, ram memory, blablabla... if it doesn?t gather the information, you can manually edit and add the info ot them.
Please get more information about the specific Smbios driver googling the Smbios driver name.
NOTE: If you select Chameleon 2 bootloader and DON?T select any smbios , chameleon will hardcode for you the SMBIOS information, but on desktops it sets "MACPRO4,1 as default and this will make the system get a kernel panic with TyMCE apple driver, please read the "Remove TyMCE" option on this guide.
Kernel:
Here you can select the Voodoo kernels.
If you don?t select ANy, then Vanilla kernel will be installed by default (get sure your cpu can use a Vanilla kernel first.)
ACPI: or Advanced Configuration and Power management, these files are intended to make your restart/shutdown/sleep more compatible, you may try X86/APIC and check if you get what you need.
first try to install without any ACPI driver to use the vanilla one, if you find issues, try one of them.
DISABLER: This adds to your system a disabler driver, this driver "disables" some apple drivers that screw your install when updating, of course, install it so you can use safely the Apple software update (THIS FEATURE IS FOR VANILLA SYSTEMS THAT CAN RUN STOCK FILES) if your?s is not, read the Safe update IAtkos 10.5.1/2/3/4 thread, that thread will let a non compatible cpu use the feature.
OHR: This driver, originally developed by Psystar, helps on desktop system that have no restart/shutdown capability, try it if you have this issue.
REMOVE TyMCE KEXT: Remove the kext causing some systems using the Macpro4,1 setting to get kernel panic, be sure you install it again before update to 10.5.8 or you will get kernel panic after update.
VGA DRIVERS: Well, i normally recommend don?t install any till you sucessfully finish the install, so you avoid possible graphic driver failures that can confuse you even more... after install you boot again the dvd and try them.
Check if they work, if they don?t work , boot with the kernel flag -x (safe mode) and ask for help on the forum.
If you can?t boot your Nvidia card even don?t selecting any driver, then use the "Remove NVDAResman" , so you can boot on your system without the Apple resolution driver, later you will have to look for the right driver for your card (and be sure that driver includes the driver you have removed).
Don?t select EFI string and injector at the same time, one or the other, please. And just select one injector each time.
SYSTEM: Here are located the hard disk chipset drivers, if you have tried the first time just installing main system, bootloader and stock files and your system/hardisk is fast enought, you don?t need this drivers.
If after first install reboot, you find a stop circle when booting or "still waiting for root device", try these drivers, please, do one by one so you know wich one is for your motherboard when it starts.
Note: If you own a jmicron controller, a nforce one or a via, select it now.
SPEEDSTEP: It let you control the processor speed, auto or manual, very handy for the laptops...
Cardbus driver: This is intended for laptops with PCI problems .
USB: A usb patch for problematic chipsets.
SOUND: you can use VoodooHDA new driver, Azalia basic driver (only speaker support) or AppleHDA from 10.5.6 if you already use a injector for audio (on 10.5.7 injectors for audio are no longer working unless you use the driver from 10.5.6.)
PS2 mouse/keyboard: You can use VoodooPS2 driver with or without trackpad driver, if it fails use the "Classic" Appleps2 driver.
You must use a driver for your PS2 devices or they will not work.
LAPTOP BATTERY: As it?s name claims.....
RAID: Support for Raid installs.
EXT2FS: Linux filesystem read/write support
NTFS-3G: NTFS filesystem read/write support (this driver can make your shutdown delay a little)
NETWORK: If you can find your network card here, select it, if don?t, ask help on forums.
POST INSTALL ACTIONS: Needed for FULL install, if you just install a driver, don?t select it.
Ok, now click next, the dvd will begin to auto test, when it finish, will install, there has been some issues about install failing on the process, if it?s your problem too, please move your mouse every two/three minutes to keep the system asleep till the install finish and check the "IAtkos V7 solutions thread".
Part 5: FIRST REBOOT!
If on the first restart you have a blinking cursor, or operating system not found or hfs error, this means the bootloader has get trouble installing, please, use then the chameleon or Xiezhy bootloader installers located on utilities menu on DVD installer.
Come on! Go to install!. XD
PD: If you want to dualboot with vista or XP, do like this:
Windows xp: after install Leopard, boot your windows xp disk, format the partition for windows a s ntfs and install it, it may tell you somthing about make the partition active and blablabla, say yes, after finish, install EASYBCD for xp and add a osx entry on the boot editor, create it as "generic x86", save changes.
An alternative way without EASYBCD is placing on the root of C: the file chain0 and modify your boot.ini like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=c:\chain0
[operating systems]
c:\chain0="Mac OSX Leopard"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
In my case, the partition is numbered as "4" cause you must count like this:
1.EFI 200mb partition
2.Leopard
3.Storage
4.Windows XP
In your system, it may vary, check always wich partition number it is, but i think this is easy as EFI is always there if you partition as GPT (GUID) and Leopard is on the second one
Chain0 download:
http://www.mediafire.com/?md0wj0mm189
For WIndows vista:
If you had installed windows vista on the first partition before install Leopard:
Use vista dvd, boot the dvd, go to repair my computer, then click next, go to command prompt and write this:
diskpart
select disk 0
select partition 1
active
exit
bootrec /rebuildbcd
If you installed vista AFTER Leopard, then you have to install EASYBCD for windows vista and do the same as XP, add a entry for OSX as generic x86, save changes.
If you want OSX bootloader to take care of everything after repair Vista bootloader, go into diskpart again , but this time, make active the OSX partition, now everything will work as expected.
This little guide is not perfect and things may not happend as i have told you, this is not a exact science and a lot of variables play on this game... please, always think this is a HOBBY, if you really want to use a computer on a PROFESSIONAL environment, please, buy a mac (or for advanced users use other unix based systems on your pc)

1) The Snow Leopard can be loaded by default in 64-bit mode. Who can not boot into 64-bit mode or wants ispolzvat 32-bit, prescribes the menu boot-v arch = i386 or arch = i386
2) AMD user - right after installation go to folder "Programs", we find there a utility Marvin's AMD Utility, open, select the very last option (Patch all binaries), select the folder / System and click Run. Without this step will not work with the program to bind CPU ID (eg iTunes).
3) If for some reason the image does not install from the disk (eg Still waiting for root device), you can try to install from the Leopard desktop is installed on a separate hard (section), or stick.
For those who installed from beneath ANOTHER LEOPARD! If you mount an image you will have an orange box and it is empty. You need to unhide these files (you can use a tool) to see the contents. Then go to System / Installation / Packages and run OSInstall.mpkg and follow the instructions of the installer.

Introduction For Beginners

This guide is prepared for newbees of OSX86 who are interested to run OSX on their ordinary P.C. but not aware with OSX dictionary. Most of migrator comes from Windows platform & never heard about Kernel,Kext,Vanilla etc. Forums are the best place for finding information.I have collected some information from the major OSX86 sites about these basic terms lets take a quick look.
Q. What are kexts ?
Ans. Kexts, or kernel extensions are drivers that are installed to /System/Library/Extensions/.Kext files often have the ".kext" extension and allow for extra hardware support and and in the case of OSx86, to replace Apple's original drivers with ones that are optimized for use on PCs.
Where are kext located?
kext are not files rather a folder (disguised as a file),
Leopard holds kext files/folders in the /System/Library/Extensions folder,
at boot time the relevant kext are uploaded from Extensions.mkext this is a cachefolder that contains kext related to the installed hardware,
you can delete it, if Leopard can't find it, it will create it again,
you can also state to rebuild it from darwin prompt at boot time using the switch -f see this post for further information.
How to Install a new Kext?
cd /System/Library/Extensions
mv KextName.kext KextName.old (where kextName stands for the kext you want to replace)this will rename the kext and this way back it up, it is highly recommended, warmly advised, very important to follow this step, it saved my OS many times
cd /path/to/new/kext (put your downloaded kext path here)
cp -R KextName.kext /System/Library/Extensions
next you need to fix permissions so the kext can be executed by OS user (root/system)
cd /System/Library/Extensions
chmod -R 755 KextName.kext
chown -R 0:0 KextName.kext (this will set the ownership on files to system user (root))
rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext (this will reset all kext caching done by OSX)
Q. What is a kernel ?
Ans. A kernel is in short terms the "core" of the operating system. It controls basically all low level operating functions. Kernels exist in all Linux and UNIX based systems, including Mac OS X. In Mac OS X the kernel is located in the root of your hard drive (/) and is named "mach_kernel" by default. If you have a vanilla based system (see below) then replacing the kernel is most likely not necessary, however if you have an AMD or SSE3 incapable processor then a patched kernel will likely be required.

Q. What is DSDT ?

Ans. DSDT is a part of ACPI. Actually DSDT tells OS how to interract with the hardware (simplified way of telling it). OSX has an incomplete ACPI implementation which supports only a subset of DSDT. By replacing DSDT we can declare essentially the same interface but in the way that OSX understands. This potentially can solve nearly any ACPI-related problem (except if OSX bypasses ACPI). Other usage case is emulating by the means of DSDT features or hardware components not present on your system. But this is limited to devices that use ACPI.

Q. What is DSDT patching?

Ans. This is an area very rarely delved into, and is something that some of even the most experienced users dare not venture. In reality, its not dangerous, it just can be painfully hard at times. DSDT is a table found in your computer's BIOS that controls ACPI (power, time, etc.) functions. Starting at OS X 10.5.6 Apple decided to start checking for faulty DSDTs when it boots. Obviously the PCs DSDT comes back as faulty so it will not boot. The only way to counteract this is to make a dump of the DSDT in the BIOS and patch it properly for Darwin. First of all, you need a modified bootloader that will support DSDT override. This installer includes just that, using the "Install PC_EFI v9 Chameleon Edition 1.0.12" checkbox. Now you need a patched DSDT file that will be copied to / dsdt.aml. To create DSDT dumps you can use the DSDT Patcher (also included in the Extras folder) but this is an advanced method, and often UOI plugins will include a DSDT file that you can install easily with this installer. However beware, even if you have the same motherboard DSDT's can vary by BIOS version so try to make sure that you have the same BIOS version as what is specified in the plugin.
Q. Difference between SMC & RTC ?
Ans. The SMC is basically System Management Controller. By resetting the SMC you can resolve some computer issues such as not starting up, not displaying video, sleep issues, fan noise issues, and blah-2. While The Real Time Clock (RTC) is a chip on the logic board that controls the date and time functions of the computer. If the computer is experiencing a booting issue, resetting the RTC may resolve it.
Installation Guide

Q. What is a vanilla compatible system ?

Ans. A vanilla compatible system is a computer capable of running OSx86 with minimal modifications (no patched kernel, compatible with Apple software updates). You have a vanilla capable system if: you have a Core 2 based processor.

Q. What is EFI emulation ?

Ans. EFI is the Extensible Firmware interface found in real macs. EFI is basically the "BIOS" of a Mac. For a computer to be properly recognized as a mac and to have the most compatibility it must have EFI. The problem here is that PCs do not have EFI.Developers have counteracted this problem by using EFI emulation which enables basic EFI function calls through a specially modified bootloader. EFI distributions for OSx86 include PC_EFI and Chameleon. Nearly all OSx86 installs have some form of EFI emulation installed, so this is not necessarily something to worry about. EFI emulation is required to use vanilla (unpatched) kernels and kexts, and to use GUID partition maps and EFI strings (more on that below)

I boot Method[Intel Only]
The iBoot method is designed and tested for any desktop or laptop running the latest line of Intel processors, the Core i3/i5/i7s. I have had reports of success with older machines as well including CoreDuo, Core2Duo, and even Pentium 4. However, AMD processors are not supported.
YOU WILL NEED
* A computer running an Intel Processor
* A blank CD
* A copy of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard DVD
* To leave any fear of your computer at the door.
* Patience and humility- it may not work out perfectly the first time- but with enough tenacity and grit, you'll reach the promised land. It's easy to get frustrated, but don't give up!

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

* If you have greater than 4gb of RAM, remove the extra RAM for a maximum of 4gb. You can put back any extra RAM in after the installation process.
* Use only 1 graphics card in the 1st PCIe slot with 1 monitor plugged in.
* Remove any hard drives besides the blank drive being used for OS X.
* Remove any USB peripherals besides keyboard and mouse.
* Remove any PCI cards besides graphics- they may not be Mac compatible.
* If using a Gigabyte P55 board, use the blue Intel SATA ports- not the white Gigabyte SATA ports.
* It's best to use an empty hard drive- you will have to partition and format the drive.
* Always back up any of your important data.
BIOS SETTINGS
You will need to set your BIOS to ACHI mode and your Boot Priority to boot from CD-ROM first. This is the most important step, and one many people overlook. Make sure your bios settings match these. It's not difficult- the only thing I did on my Gigabyte board besides setting Boot Priority to CD/DVD first was set Optimized Defaults, change SATA to AHCI mode, and set HPET to 64-bit mode.

MULTIBEAST

MultiBeast is an all-in-one post-installation tool designed to enable boot from hard drive, and install support for Audio, Network, and Graphics. It contains two different complete post-installation solutions: EasyBeast and UserDSDT. In addition it includes System Utilities to rebuild caches and repair permissions and a collection of drivers, boot loaders, patched kernels, boot time config files and handy software.
Choose one of the following options directly following a fresh installation and update:
EasyBeast is a DSDT-free solution for any Core/Core2/Core i system. It installs all of the essentials to allow your system to boot from the hard drive. Audio, Graphics and Network will have to be enabled separately.
UserDSDT is a bare-minimum solution for those who have their own pre-edited DSDT. Place your DSDT.aml on the desktop before install. Audio, Graphics and Network will have to be enabled separately. HINT: Check the DSDT Database for a pre-edited DSDT.
1. Run MultiBeast.
2. If you have a custom DSDT that's been edited, place the file on your desktop, rename it DSDT.aml and choose UserDSDT.
3. All others select EasyBeast
4. Select System Utilities.
5. Optionally, if you know what other items you need you can select them as well. Be sure to read the documentation provided about each installation option. NOTE: EasyBeast, and UserDSDT install Chameleon RC4 by default, so you'll not need to check that option.
Check out the MultiBeast 2.0 Post for Demonstration Videos
6. Install to Snow Leopard- it should take about 4 minutes to run scripts.
7. Eject iBoot.
8. Reboot- from your new Snow Leopard installation drive.

Hackintosh Reboots Constantly After OSX86 Installation
Installing the OS X on your PC is difficult till first install. Successful OSX86 installation is depends on various combinations like right Distro, BIOS Settings, Hardware, Patch Selection etc. Most common problem for first time installer is my hackintosh reboots after installation finishes. For first time peoples make sure to read and understand the post given below and our OSX86 Basics section. We always recommend to install on a clean hard disk. If you are suffering from endless reboot after leopard hackintosh install, then follow these steps to solve it.
1. Check your BIOS setup and use the following setting if available :
* Set Core Mutil-Proccessing disable (if all goes well set enabled)
* Set ACPI 2.0 Support to yes
* Set ACPI APIC Support to enable
* Set CPU Internal Thermal Control to Disabled or Auto
* Set the Max CPUID Value Limit to Disabled
* Set the "Execute Disable Function" to Enabled
* XD (eXecution Disabled) Disabled
Set ATA/IDE Mode Settings:
* Set Configure SATA as: AHCI
* Set S.M.A.R.T: Enabled

IDE Settings:

* Set ATA/IDE Mode: Legacy
* Set Configure SATA as: IDE
* Set S.M.A.R.T: Disabled
2. Try to Boot using some Darwin Bootloader Switches (or combinations of them):
cpus=1
-f
-x
-v
-legacy
platform=X86PC
platform=86PC
rd=diskXsY (where X is the number of the leopard drive starting from 0 and Y is the number
of Leopard partition starting from 1 example: rd=disk0s1)
see "Darwin Boot Options" for more details
3. if you are using kalyway 10.5.1 then try "TOHKERNEL" at the darwin boot prompt it will boot TOH kernel instead of the vanilla one (this solution is mostly for when the DVD reboots befor getting to the graphical install screen).
4. Make sure you have at least SSE2 Processor.
5. Reinstall OSX86 with minimum options in customization.
6. Remove hardware parts you don't need for the install process (like PCI cards, 1.44, USB deices etc.)
7. Try to install OSX86 on a blank Hard Disk

Kernel Panic

A kernel panic is an action taken by an operating system upon detecting an internal fatal error from which it cannot safely recover. You may encountered with a kernel panic while installing OSX86 or Hackintosh. There are plenty of reasons why Kernel Panic occurs some of them are Defective or incompatible RAM, Incompatible or corrupted kernel extensions, Incompatible or corrupted drivers, Hard disk corruption, including bad sectors, directory corruption, and other hard-disk ills and most possible Incompatible hardware. Attempts by the operating system to read an invalid or non-permitted memory address are a common source of kernel panics. A panic may also occur as a result of a hardware failure or a bug in the operating system. In short there are plenty of reasons and resolutions for kernel panic. Here we study three different Kernel Panic case Apple2PC Described it very beautifully. You can read the Panic errors given below and understand why it happens.

Snow Leopard 10.6.2 For PC version 2 [Installation Fully Explained - All in One]
You should understand that what happened here is that the OS has stopped working since it has a problem, the first thing it does is look for a debugger to pass the control to (since this is not a Mac OS X developer station it will not find one), next thing it will do is dump to the screen all the data it can on the incident so you or a qualified technician can understand what the problem is.
the first part (blue part) display data of the CPU registers, program control exception state for CPU number 0 (this is your first CPU) at the time of crash, this data is hex address in the memory, it will not do you much good unless you are a mega advanced user.
next part Backtrace (green part) also uses hex memory address to point the command the CPU ran before crashing, again will not do us any good.
next part (bolded black) is still regarding backtrace (what happened before the crash), but it tells us what modules (usually kext) where loaded, usually this part can tell us allot, since this loading sequence ended with crashing the OS. in this section we see the last loaded module (in this example the GeForce) and the modules it depends on that needed to be loaded before it so they probably did not cause the crash since they are already loaded (although still possible that they are the fault - but rarely they are).
next part (Red part) is the exception chain, again stating the data as hex memory address and the CPU registers, will not help us.
last interesting part is the kernel version part (orange part) this part will state what kernel you are using, name version build date and platform in this example:
Darwin
8.11.0
oct 10
PPC (Power PC)
Conclusion 1 : The problem is with the GeForce kext.

Conclusion 2 : We probably have a problem with the Bluetooth kext. so up to here it was easy and straight forward, the next doesn't have the loaded module part.

Conclusion 3 :

1. first option is a random memory access error, meaning that the memory has been accessed to an area that wasn't expected or allowed, maybe even an application has written into memory that it shouldn't have (that was not its space) and by that caused the OS/kernel to crash, you should check what recent applications/utilities/kext/bundle/plugin/login items you have installed and remove it or disable its launch for a while until you can sort it out.
2. second option is usually the case for real macs but also possible for PC, as simple as a hardware problem, or bad memory card that causing the problem, maybe it act badly only if it is cold (immediately after booting the machine) or when it is hot (after several hours of work, depends sometimes minutes is enough on a sunny day), another hardware problem can be any hardware that access memory asynchronously, like IO (bluetooth card, modem, wifi, network card, etc.).
3. another option is that your combination of kext and bundles is not working (maybe versions of them some are older then should be?) so for such a case i always keep a bootable/loadable System/Library/Extensions folder on the disk.
4. this option is rarely the case, but can happen, if the main boot partition doesn't have enough free space it could cause the problem, so all you need to do in this case is to boot in safe mode and free some space.
5. another simple option is the case of a kext/application/kernel trying to access a file that it doesn't have a permission to access to, this can be caused due to wrong unix file mod, in this case boot into single user and fix permissions.
6. last option (that i can think of) is a bad kernel, so since the kernel itself is badly behaving that is why there are no kext loaded yet, since the kernel hasn't finished loading the core. this is why i keep a spare bootable/loadable copy on the disk so i can boot from it on a rainy kernel problem day
